Steve served as Executive Director from SALT’s beginning in 1996 until the end of June, 2020. In June, 2020, Steve passed on the baton of leadership to an experienced and motivated national staff team. After relocating to the US, he served as a consultant, and assisted with development and organizational fundraising until his retirement at the end of April, 2023. The Torgersons now make their home in MN.
Family
Steve is married to Merrilee and they have 3 adult, married children and 9 grandchildren scattered across the globe.
Other Interests
After leaving the mountain trails of Hong Kong, Steve and Merrilee are taking up gardening and kayaking at their new home in Minnesota. Cheering for the Minnesota Twins will now take on a new level of enthusiasm. Together they are active in their local church missions team and teaching the young adult Sunday School class.
